  • Short Summary

Peggy O'Neil is seen relaxing in her garden, reading fan mail and a magazine in a swing chair.

  • Description

Miss Peggy O'Neil emerges from some bushes. She is shown enjoying the countryside as a break from "Paddy the Next Best Thing".

She is seen relaxing on a swing chair in the garden reading a magazine, walking in a leafy avenue smelling the flowers and being brought tea by a maid. She reads her mail. An insert of a letter reads: "Dear Miss O'Neil, My name is O'Neil and I'm trying hard to get a man. He thinks I'm you and wants my picture. Please send me a big one quick and answer a Maiden's Prayers". Peggy looks through some pictures of herself and chooses one to send. She then drinks her cup of tea.

Note: "Paddy the Next Best Thing" was a hugely successful play of the early 1920s. Peggy O'Neil was the toast of the town, songs were written about her and a whisky was named after her.

Nice to illustrate a lady of leisure in the 1920s (even though she is a hard working actress!) - Peggy smelling flowers and relaxing on the swing chair are nice images - all nicely shot.
