    Wonderful. My father William Ford was one of the Royal Marines who was standing on that ship amongst the multitude when HMS Duke of York pulled into Sydney. He was demobbed in Sydney, but decided to return back to the UK after his father told him he was needed back at home. My father loved Sydney, said it was the best place he ever visited.

    Hi, my father was a telegraphist on The Duke and I have a demob taken in Sydney in 1946 I don't now if there are Royal Marines in the group or not Wallace Toner. My fathers name was Lawrie Toal nickname " Fig Leaf "
