Religious and military representatives take part, Captain James Smith is in charge of the military escort, and Group leader O'Keefe is in charge of the local Defence force. The Very Reverend J. Canon Scannel, D.S.O. is present, he was the first chaplain appointed by the Air-Army. Boys scatter rose petals in front of the procession as it makes its way to the church. M/S of old church, 85 year old Mrs Amani waits to take the benediction. Various shots of the ceremony, the military salute. M/S as soldiers march through. Children stand around a grotto, various shots of them. L/S of the parade.

    Looking through this 1941 footage of Pontias Pilate procession in Bandon we discovered footage of my great grandmother Mrs Mgt O'Mahony born 1866 at the grand old age of 85. Amazing what you find on the old internet :) Thanks Pathe films.
