Orange belt Jim Pook, aged four, demonstrates his skill at a judo class in Highgate, London.
C/U of a blue shield on a judo jacket with the word 'Kyushindo' embroidered on it. M/S of the judo class in a hall in Highgate, London; they practise falls by all toppling over onto their sides at once, then the instructor, Mr Mayo, demonstrates a forward fall and roll over and the rest of the class do the same. A group of seated spectators are all wearing judo gear. C/U of a small blond-haired boy, JP, watching with his father.
M/S of the class as they start to disperse and a girl and man begin to wrestle; C/U as he throws her to the ground and pins her there as Mr M adjusts the man's jacket, then he releases her and they start to wrestle again. C/Us of JP looking up at his father and smiling, the feet of the wrestlers, the girl and man as they wrestle and the girl's head hitting the canvas - she is smiling! C/U of JP as he comes forward to the mat, then M/S as two other wrestlers bow to each other in the foreground, leave the mat, and JP waits (a bit impatiently) for his turn with Mr M.
They come to the centre of the mat and begin to wrestle, then JP throws Mr M who jumps back up immediately; C/U of their feet as JP hooks his foot round the man's ankle; M/S as Mr M falls and gets up again, then JP rolls onto his back and throws Mr M over his head. Commentator says "At the ripe old age of four Master James Pook has already been awarded an orange belt for his extraordinary skill". C/U of the wrestling girl watching; M/S as JP throws Mr M over his head again then C/U of JP's father looking on. C/U of JP and Mr M still wrestling as JP hooks his foot round Mr M's ankle again to throw him; C/U of Mr M's head hitting the canvas.
M/S as they wrestle - this time Mr M throws JP (hooray!); C/U of their feet, then M/S as Mr M throws JP again and puts his foot on JP's chest as he lies on the mat. JP grabs Mr M's foot and tips it to make him fall backwards. M/Ss of the class watching (mostly men), JP and Mr M wrestling again and JP throwing Mr M. Then they bow to each other and Mr M picks up JP and carries him back to his father.
