    On the second last day of the Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday (December 14), new record were set for the triple jump and 10,000 metres race.

    In the triple jump, India's Mohinder Singh Gill leapt to victory while his fellow-countryman Labh Singh came a close second. Gill's 16.11 metres broke his own previous Asian Games record of 15.6 metres set 12 years ago in Tokyo, Japan. Singh was only 29 centimetres behind Gill.

    South Koreans Park Bong-guen and Hong Sung-pyo set the early pace in the 10,000 metres race. After 1,500 metres Pakistani Rasul Ghulam challenged the Koreans for the lead, but later withdrew from the race. Before it had reached the half-way stage, Ceylon's barefoot champion Lucian Rosa surged into the lead -- and kept it all the way to thing winning post. he was closely followed by Japan's Kenichi Otsuki, who took the silver medal for second place. Rosa's winning time for the gold medal, 29 minutes 55.6 seconds, slashed 25.8 secs. off the Games record. Park of Korea was more then a lap behind in third place. Last week Rosa won the 5,000 metres race.
