  • Description

AS FIERCE WINDS DROPPED ON TUESDAY, THERE HUGE BRUSH FIRES THAT HAVE SWEPT THROUGH SOME OF THE OUTER SUBURBS OF LOS ANGELES, WERE GRADUALLY CHECKED BY HUNDREDS OF FIREMEN.

HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAD BEEN HASTILY EVACUATED AS THE FLAMES SWEPT DOWN FROM THE TINDER DRY HILLS NEARBY. THE BLAZE LEAPT FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE, LEAVING MORE THAN TEN THOUSAND ACRES BLACKENED.

MORE THAN THIRTY HOMES WERE DESTROYED AND MANY OTHERS SUFFERED FROM THE INTENSE HEAT.

ALTHOUGH THE FLAMES HAVE BEEN CHECKED, FIRE OFFICIALS WARN THAT IT WILL BE DAYS BEFORE THE DANGER IS PAST. IF WEATHER CONDITIONS DETERIORATE, BURNING EMBERS COULD RESTART FIRES OVER A WIDE AREA.

IT IS TOO EARLY FOR AN ESTIMATE OF THE DAMAGE TO BE REACHED, BUT ALREADY THE COST IS PUT AT SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS.
