Background: For seven days toys are the centre of interest in Nuremburg, Germany. Today as 3 pm the ninth annual toy fair - the first international one - was opened by the Federal Minister for Economics, Prof Erhard.

The fair with its numerous new toys - among them many novelties - attracted hundreds of manufacturers and buyers, as well as the public, from Germany and abroad. There were more than 100,000 different types of toys on display.

Over SCO manufacturers, including 63 foreign firms, showed their latest toys - and the accent was on sputniks, rockets and other marvels of the 'atom age'.
