Background: The Swedish contingent of the United Nations force in Leopoldville, Congo Republic, took time off from "policy duty" and relaxed to the music of the Ghanaian military band, Aug. 3. On hand to make them feel at home was a supply of Tuborg beer.

Swedish and Ghanaian forces have been responsible for keeping order in the capital, mounting patrols through the streets. In common with all United Nations detachments they have been well received by the Congolese.

On Aug. 6, a contingent of 500 Swedes and 500 Moroccans, are due to be flown into the breakaway province of Katanga. At a recent press conference the Katanga Prime Minister Moise Tshombe announced that the troops will have to fight their way into his "independent state". At the same time he gave orders for general mobilization of all able bodies men in the province.
