  • Description

Economic experts from West Germany and the Soviet Union today (10 June) began three days of talks in Bonn aimed at reaching agreements on energy and raw materials, and on a series of joint projects.

During the day, the leader of the visiting Soviet commission, Council of Ministers Vice-Chairman Novikov, also had talks with West German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher.

Among the specific projects under discussion in a plan for West Germany to build an atomic power plant in the Soviet Union.

Both sides have also indicated that the time is now favourable for trade between the two countries to be expanded further. Last year, West Germany sent just over two percent of total exports to the Soviet Union; the figure for Soviet exports to West Germany was 1.8 percent of the total.

The Soviet experts won't limit their visit to official talks. They'll also be touring leading West German firms and discussing latest trends with industrialists.
