  • Description

For some years, hitched on to any train that happens to be handy, Rhodesian Railways have run a cinema coach to entertain railwaymen and their families in out of the way places.

Stops are made at a different place each night with matinees during school holidays.

The coach also carries a small library - books are not lent, but exchanged - put one in, take one out.

It is an entirely self-contained unit, and our cameramen went along to a kids matinee. There was an appropriate holiday programme too. No need to guess which country this animal film was made in. Cheery feature programmes are also included to suit all tastes.

The cinema coach is a godsend to folk who live in out of the way places, and it returns about once in every three months. Hats off to the man who first thought of the idea.
