  • Description

Many of the thousand of Vietnamese who fled form their homes at the end of the war there, have been in the United States for more than four months now.

American military bases have become home for a large number of them, but those at Camp Pendleton, California, are about to move on again. As the authorities find an increasing number of homes for the adult refugees and families for the children, the number of military camps catering for the refugees is reduced, Some of the Camp Pendleton refugees will go to Fort Chaffey in Arkansas, others will go to sponsorship organisations in the United States or Canada.

The Vietnamese at Camp Pendleton have already picked up American habits. They wear American clothes and play American games like volley ball and kite flying, but several of the adults are intent only on earning money to return to Vietnam and get the rest of their families out.

The film has a commentary by TVN reporter Bill Reed. There is also a short interview with Vietnamese artist Nguyen-van-luc. A full transcript of both appears overleaf.
