The Sudanese minister of security, Mr. Abdel Wahab Ibrahim has recently had a round of talks with his opposite number in Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Kotiga Guerina. the discussions, on security matters, were held against a background of hostility both countries have with their common neighbour Libya.
SYNOPSIS: They met in the Foreign Affairs ministry in the capital, N'Djamena.
Lieutenant Colonel Guerina has been Chad's Minister of the Interior and Security since the coup there two and half years ago. He and the Sudanese Interior Minister, Mr. Ibrahim, began a day long session of talks.
At the end of the talks it was announced that the two countries would strengthen their co-operation on joint security matters. Earlier the Sudanese Interior Minister visited Chad's police headquarters. Both countries are reported to have a total of 500 men training in a camp near Alexandria in Egypt for what are termed "special missions." Relations between the two countries and their neighbour Libya have been strained recently. Libya backed on attempted coup in Sudan in 1976.
A month later Libya annexed mineral rich territory stretching up to 110 miles inside Chad.
