    THERE WERE TWO REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONIES AT THE WAR MEMORIAL IN SALISBURY, RHODESIA, ON SUNDAY. AFTER THE MAIN CEREMONY WAS OVER A BRITISH GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE VISITED THE MEMORIAL TO LAY A WREATH AT A PRIVATE CEREMONY.

    THE MAIN CEREMONY INCLUDED A MARCH TO THE MEMORIAL BY RHODESIAN TROOPS AND EX-SERVICEMEN. A WREATH FROM THE REBEL GOVERNMENT WAS LAID BY MR. SMITH'S DEPUTY, MR. JOHN WRATHALL.

    THERE WERE NO BRITISH REPRESENTATIVES AT THE MAIN CEREMONY. JUST OVER AN HOUR AFTER IT HAD ENDED MR. JOHN HENNINGS, HEAD OF THE RESIDUAL BRITISH MISSION IN SALISBURY, VISITED THE MEMORIAL AND LAID ANOTHER WREATH. IT BORE A CARD READING "IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL MEMORY FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF GREAT BRITAIN".
