  • Description

The formerly exiled Greek socialist leader, Andreas Papandreou, warned in Athens, the Greek capital, on Saturday (28 September) that his party considered the timing of the proposed Greek general elections in November 'an electoral coup' and said it would lead to 'confrontation in Greece'. Mr. Papandreou, leader of the Socialist movement, who returned to Athens two months ago after the coup against the military regime there during the Cyprus crisis, originally threatened to have his party abstain from the November elections. But in Saturday's exclusive interview with Visnews, he said his party would go through with the elections -- with reservations.
