Yves St. Laurent, 22-year-old designer of the House of Dior, presented his autumn and winter?
Yves St. Laurent, 22-year-old designer of the House of Dior, presented his autumn and winter collection at Blenheim Palace, England, November 12.
Princess Margaret was among the 1,650 people who packed the State rooms and long library for the two-hour show. She saw 136 dresses and 26 furs exhibited by 16 of the top Dior mannequins.
Valued at GBP125,000 the dresses had already been exhibited in Paris. One dress, however, the Blenheim, had been created by St. Laurent for the occasion. It is a white satin off-the-shoulder evening gown with a deep swathe at the waist.
Arranged by the Duchess of Marlborough to help reduce the current deficit of GBP48,098 of the British Red Cross, it was estimated that the society would benefit by nearly GBP10,000 from the presentation.
