    Ten thousand Korean exiles demonstrated in Tokyo, Feb 25, against the Japanese Government's decision to repatriate many thousands of the half-million or so Koreans resident in the country to North Korea.

    Communist agitation is believed to have stirred up a longing for the 'old country' among the exiles. The result- 'rupture' of talks between Japan and South Korea for establishing normal relations, mass demonstration in South Korea and now protests by the Koreans in Japan.

    Eight percent of these exiles are the jobless and poverty-stricken. The Japanese Government is reported to be happy to let them go but South Korean and some of the exiles are against repatriation to Communist North Korea.

    Despite protests Japan is intent on shipping out these unwanted exiles.

    JAPANESE AND KOREANS CAN PUT ON A GOOD SHOW WHEN IT COMES TO A MASS DEMONSTRATION. TEN-THOUSAND KOREANS, WHO ARE NOW LIVING IN JAPAN, TURNED OUT IN AN ORDERLY RALLY THIS WEEK. THERE ARE 700-THOUSAND KOREANS LIVING IN THE COUNTRY; EIGHTY PERCENT OF THEM ARE JOBLESS OR DIRE NEED. A GROUP OF COMMUNISTS AMONG THEM HAS SPARKED A MOVEMENT TO GET THE KOREANS TO GO NORTH KOREA (CQ) VOLUNTARILY. JAPAN WOULD BE HAPPY TO SEE THEM GO. UNTIL RECENTLY, SOUTH KOREA REMAINED INDIFFERENT TO THEIR PLIGHT. BUT NOT THAT IT APPEARS MANY OF THEM WILL ACCEPT RED CROSS TRANSPORTATION FOR THE REPATRIATION PRESIDENT SYNGMAN RHEE IS FURIOUS (ALL CQ). SO ARE THESE KOREANS....
