An economic mission from Switzerland touring Gabon was received by President Bongo in Libreville last Saturday (25 September). The mission, made up of businessmen and representatives of the Swiss Ministries for Economics and Tourism, visited Gabon with a view to making industrial investments. President Bongo said it was the first visit of a Swiss economic mission to his country.
The delegation left Libreville on Friday (1 October) for the Ivory Coast.
SYNOPSIS: An economic delegation from Switzerland has spent eight days touring Gabon - the first visit of such a mission from Switzerland. The twenty-one delegates met the President, Albert-Bernard Bongo, last Saturday, before visiting the interior of the country. They will visit development projects all over the country, looking at the progress made. The delegates are businessmen and members of the Swiss Ministries for Economics and Tourism - it will be the first time that Swiss industries make investments in Gabon.
The delegates earlier met Gabonese experts to study the economy of Gabon.
President Bongo told the delegates that it was his first opportunity to welcome representatives of the Swiss economy.
After their study of the Gabonese economy, the Swiss delegation left the country on Friday for their next stop, Abidjan in the Ivory Coast.
