    THREE NORTH VIETNAMESE PRISONERS RELEASED BY THE AMERICANS IN EXCHANGE FOR THREE UNITED STATES SOLDIERS FREED LAST MONTH LEFT VIENTIANE IN LAOS ON FRIDAY (29 MARCH) FOR HANOI.

    THE THREE MEN, ALL SAILORS, ARE LIEUTENANT HOANG THUY, CORPORAL NGO DUC VUONG, AND CORPORAL NGUYEN THANH CHI. THEY WERE AMONG A GROUP OF 19 PRISONERS CAPTURED IN JULY, 1966. THREE OTHERS HAVE ALREADY BEEN SENT BACK TO NORTH VIETNAM.

    AMERICAN AND NORTH VIETNAMESE OFFICIALS HAD NEGOTIATED FOR THIS LATEST EXCHANGE FOR THE PAST SIX WEEKS.

    THE THREE MEN FLEW INTO VIENTIANE ON BOARD A CHARTER AIRCRAFT FROM DANANAG ACCOMPANIED BY AN INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS DOCTOR. THEY WERE MET AT THE AIRPORT BY A NORTH VIETNAM EMBASSY OFFICIAL.

    THEY LEFT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY FOR HANOI ON A REGULAR INTERNATIONAL CONTROL COMMISSION AIRCRAFT.

    A UNITED STATES SPOKESMAN IN SAIGON SAID IT WAS HOPED THE MOVE WOULD LEAD TO A FURTHER EXCHANGE OF PRISONERS OF WAR BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES.
