    Thousands of SEAT car workers in Barcelona went on strike on Friday (October 22) only hours after reporting back to work following two days of suspension without pay. Police and troops were called in to control the situation. Earlier in the week there was a mass walk-out and subsequent running street battles with police. This film of Friday's walkout, in which there were no incidents, was shot at long range under difficult conditions.

    SYNOPSIS: Several thousand car workers at a SEAT factory went on strike in Barcelona, Spain, on Friday -- only hours after returning to work following a two-day suspension without pay. Police and troops were called in to control the situation, but there were no incidents.

    Earlier this week there was a mass walk-out after intermittent disputes with management. Following the walk-out -- running street battles between factory workers and police, in which 30 people were arrested and four held for trial. As a result of the clashes, the management suspended several thousand workers without pay. They were allowed to return on Friday, but refused to pick up their tools -- and the second, but quieter, walkout followed.
