    The two Soviet Cosmonauts manning the orbiting Salyut-6 space station left the cabin together on Saturday (29 July), one to walk in space and the other to film.

    SYNOPSIS: Alexander Ivanchenkov walked out of the air-lock and clambered over the floating laboratory. which has been in space for almost a year. He removed equipment used to detect micro-meteorites and to test the effect of space exposure on different materials. Ivanchenkov and his companion. Ivanchenkov and his companion, Mission Commander Vladimir Kovalyonok, were outside the cabin for slightly over two hours. Film of the walk was later shown on Soviet television. The walks was also used for tests on a space suit first worn seven months ago by cosmonaut Georgy Grechko when he, too, walked in space, the first Soviet spacewalk in almost nine years. The present pair have been in Salyut-Six since June the seventeenth. Since the space station was put into orbit last September, five teams of cosmonauts have successfully boarded it. Two unmanned cargo ships have also brought supplies, using the station's unique feature, its second docking port. The second cargo ship is latched onto one of the ports, while the Soyuz craft, which brought the two spaceman, occupies the other. Mr. Ivanchenkov, a first-timer in space, and Colonel Kavalyonok, a veteran cosmonaut, are though to be heading for a marathon space flight. Two other spacemen have already visited them and another team is expected to pay a similar visit in the future.
