Background: President Anwar Sadat of the United Arab Republic will soon have served six months as President Nasser's successor. This is Visnews' first profile of the new President as he approaches the February 5 deadline for extending or ending the Arab-Israeli cease-fire.

In a whole series of belligerent statements lately, President Sadat has sustained his diplomatic posture of being prepared to renew the fight against Israel. This colour film shows two of the opportunities he seized, at the First National Assembly Meeting since President Nasser's death, and in the Nile Delta town of Tanta during a country wide tour.

Two aspects of Egypt's foreign relations are covered by the President's meeting with Soviet President Podgorny before the opening of the Aswan dam, and at the inaugural meeting of the new Arab Federation of UAR, Sudan and Libya in Cairo.
