  • Description

The leader of the Danish Social Democrat party, Jens Otto Koag, expected to try to form a minority government within the next few days, visited King Frederik at Amalienborg Castle in Copenhagen on Wednesday (6th October). With him was the ex-minister of Foreign Affairs ??? Haekkerun.

Leaders of the political parties of Denmark have been negotiating in an attempt to form a government ever since the September 21 General election which gave neither of the two main parliamentary groupings a majority. The advantage has now swung in favour of Mr. Krag as a result of Wednesday's ??? election. One Social Democrat and one neutral won the seats. This secured the Social Democrats the backing of a total of 89 members, one more than the 85 seats obtained in the September 21 election by the three-party, right-centre coalition which has ruled Denmark since 1968.
