  • Description

Soviet Premier, Alexei Kosygin, has accepted an invitation to visit West Germany at some date in the future. The invitation was made by West German Chancellor, Willy Brandt, before he left Moscow today (August 13) after yesterday's signing of the Soviet-West German non-aggression treaty.

Before leaving Moscow today, Herr Brandt took time off from his hectic round of talks for a tour of Moscow's famous Red Square.

The Chancellor and the Soviet Premier met again this morning for another 105 minute meeting and Herr Brandt said later he'd made it clear that West Germany remained "a loyal member of the Atlantic Alliance and of the growing European community."
But, he said, by signing the Treaty, Bonn was trying to "reach the level of its allies as far as relations with the Soviet Union are concerned."
Under the Treaty, the two states renounce the use of force and acknowledge existing European frontiers as inviolable.
