  • Description

In the village of Valkenburg in South Limburg, near the German-Belgian border an international hair dressing competition took place (on Sunday Sept 15). Famous hairdressers from France, Belgium, Germany and Holland took part.

The object of the tournament, as much as the competitive interest was to stimulate public interest in new hair styles.

Style of the Day was named Bel Ami - the hair worn wide at the sides of the head and tapering gently away. There was plenty of artificial colouring in the new styles:-except for grey hair---it is fashionable for that to stay distinguished and.....gray.

It was noticeable that, even in the 'gala' occasion styles-parties, dinners and so on, the tendency for upswept hair is dying out, but there's still plenty of jewellery and 'fine feathers'.
