    The chairman of the British Atomic Energy Commission, Sir John Cockcroft, spent two days, March 28 and 29th, in Baghdad as part of the Baghdad Pact scientific education programme. He lectured to scientists from member nations of the Pact on various aspects of recent trends and improvements in the use of the atom and its derivative energy.

    The lectures took place in the College of Science, Iraq's foremost seat of scientific learning. Sir John was introduced to the assembly by Dr. M. Aqrawi, director of Baghdad University. Iraq was represented at the lectures by M. S Na'aman, Iran by Dr. Bazirgan, Pakistan by Mr. Toosi, Turkey by Dr. B. Tanil and the U.S.A. by Mr. White-House.
