Background: Monarchs and heads of state from all parts of the world are arriving in Athens to attend the funeral of King paul tomorrow (Thursday). Greek citizens have been filing past the body of their late King, as it is lies in state in the Athens cathedral.
Among those who arrived yesterday, were Don Carlos, the Pretender to the Spanish throne, and his son Don Juan Carlos who is married to Princess Sophia of Greece.
Mr. Edward Kardelj, President of Yugoslavia's Federal assembly arrived accompanied by Mr. Velko Zekovic, Vice-Chairman of the Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia.
Queen Ingrid and Crown Princess Margarethe of Denmark were received at Athens airport by Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark who is to marry King Constantine of Greece.
From the United States have come Mrs. Johnson, wife of the American President, and former United States president Harry Truman.
Archbishop Makarios and the Cyprus Foreign Minister, Mr. Spyros Kyprianos arrived and were greeted by King Constantine. As the Cyprus president stepped from his plane about five hundred youths shouted "Long live Makarios" and "Self determination for Cyprus."
Britain's Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth who gave birth to her fourth child last night, flew to Athens today to attend King Paul's funeral. Among others who have arrived are Prince Ranier of Monaco; M. Maurice Couve de Murville, the French Foreign Minister; Prince Pahlevi, representing his brother, the Shah of Iran and ex-King Simon of Bulgaria.
