  • Description

TWO HUNDRED PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE VINCENT VAN GOGH FOUNDATION IN AMSTERDAM ARE ON DISPLAY AT THE HAYWARD GALLERY, FESTIVAL SITE, LONDON. ITS THE THIRD BRITISH EXHIBITION OF VAN GOGH WORKS IN 21 YEARS.

MOST OF THE WORKS BEING EXHIBITED BY THE ARTS COUNCIL, HAYWARD GALLERY, ARE ON LOAN FROM MR. V.W. VAN GOGH, A NEPHEW OF THE PAINTER.

THE COUNCIL HELD SIMILAR EXHIBITIONS AT THE TATE GALLERY IN 1947 AND AT THE WALKER ART GALLERY, LIVERPOOL, IN 1955.

THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE VISITED THESE EXHIBITIONS AND THE ARTS COUNCIL SAYS ITS EXTREMELY GRATIFIED THAT MR. VAN GOGH HAS LOANED THE PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS TO THE HAYWARD GALLERY, FOR THIS SHOWING.

UNTIL A NEW VAN GOGH MUSEUM IS ESTABLISHED IN AMSTERDAM, THE FOUNDATION'S COLLECTION IS DISPLAYED DURING SUMMER MONTHS AT THE STEDELIJK MUSEUM BY DOCTOR E.L.L. DE WILDE.
