    Streatham, London. A racehorse owned by 10 year old Michael Seward trains for the Grand National. Horse's name "Michael's Pearl". MS LS the horse racing along a track, in what looks like a park, with a stable companion. MS the horses cross a main road and walk amid the traffic in the town. CU Michael leading him out of his stable. CU Michael standing by the horse's head to talk to Pathe's John Parsons (nat sound). MS Michael leads him to a mobile horse box. CU back view of the boy waving goodbye as the van drives off.

    Haile Selassie, Emperor of Ethiopia, inspects troops at Addis Ababa. CU a cannon firing a salute. LS the Negus alights from his car. CU Head and shoulders of the Emperor taking the salute. MS LS troops marching past. CU Good close up studies of individual soldiers. CU On his right stands his son, Crown Prince Asfaw Wassen. MS the personalities on the reviewing stand, include Prince Makonnen and the Duke of Harrar.

    Young children in school are taught road safety skills with a miniture road crossing in their classroom. They have a little crossing and mini traffic lights. Very cute scenes.

    Leslie Cotton, brother of the famous Henry, teaches employees of the Lester engineering firm in Gloucestershire to play golf. CU MS Various shots of Cotton showing beginners how to play strokes and the pupils trying it out for themselves. CU a golf ball on the grass. MS A line of prospective learners watching.

    Heathrow Airport, London. Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) christens BOAC's new Avro Tudor I air liner. "Elizabeth of England" LS the Princess arriving at the airport. MS CU she pours champagne from a silver beer jug over the nose of the plane. CU the Union Jack covering the name is slipped of to unveil it.

    Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester returns from Australia. MS the plane taxis in. LS the Duke is greeted by the Duchess of Kent and the Earl of Clarendon, the Lord Chamberlain.

    Story of ex-Corporal Harry Nicholls VC, he had to apply for public assistance. MS Nicholls, in his uniform walks down the road and knocks on the door of his house. CU he kisses his wife and little daughter. CU the daughter takes the Victoria Cross out of its case while his wife. seated in another chair watches. CU Nicholls making a leather bag. CU He walks out of the Post Office, where he has drawn his pension accruing from the VC. CU his hands counting the money. MS his wife working at a sewing machine. CU Head and shoulders of Nicholls smoking a pipe. CU Some of the trophies he has won from boxing. (N.B. All these shots are typical of a working class family and the interior of their home.).
