Lovely item about the crowning of the new "May Queen" in South London.
Full title reads: "'Ye Merrie Month of Maye' and Mother did wake little 12 year old Nora Glover early to be crowned 'Queen of the May' - at 6 am."
Walworth Road, London.
Children - mainly dressed in white - helped into open lorry. The lorry moves off, a small crowd has gather to see the children on their way. A horsedrawn carriage follows after the lorry and then a parade of girl guides and brownies. This is a parade for the Queen of May - the retiring Queen travels in the carriage. Bunting is hanging in the streets.
Children walk in parade. Two boys lead a procession of girls all dressed in white and with little flowery head dresses. The voiceover goes on about how wonderful these May Day British customs are.
The new May Queen - Nora Glover - is crowned by her predecessor.
