    American army enters Tokyo, Japan - US newsreel story.

    Title reads: "Universal newsreel - Yanks enter Tokyo".

    L/S US soldiers walking along quayside. Various shots cavalry badge on GI's uniform. C/U sign: "1st Cavalry Division in Tokyo". M/S General Chase shaking hands with Private Davis, "first GI in Tokyo", in front of sign. Various shots American army tanks and vehicles driving into Tokyo. The convoy passes children waving Allied Forces flags, as well as large groups of civilians as side of road.

    Various shots of General Douglas MacArthur's car driving along streets, towards American embassy. General MacArthur gets out of car and is greeted by General Chase. M/S row of soldiers with regimental flags. M/S MacArthur and Chase going to inspect troops. M/S soldiers lifting up guns. L/S American flag being raised. M/S officers, including two Generals, saluting. L/S American flag flying. High angled shot soldiers around the flag saluting.

    Old record gives date as 30/04/1945.

    Note: old record gives different shot list - "Jap soldiers are seen surrendering and in POW camp guarded by US soldiers with machine guns" - this description matches item transferred as UN 1424 F.
