World War One: sports at the military hospital. Wounded soldiers recuperating in hospital are given cigarettes. Soldier in foreground staring ahead - he is either shell-shocked or he is fascinated by the camera. A woman gives him a cigarette and he shows interest in it, another soldier and some relatives are also in shot.
