Good grief, first time I have seen this. I was in the group carrying the Hungary banner. What a day it was, after the march all us boys (13-14 years old, were herded into the Uruguay stand full of all these old men waving their flag and shouting in Spanish.
would love a copy of this.

So glad that this is available so that I can prove to friends and colleagues that I was there on the opening pageant wearing the Mexico kit. Great occasion, great day and we got to keep all the kit. I wonder how many of the boys present still have their kit? Unfortunately mine wore out.

    What an experience this was!
My school, Christ's College Finchley, (CCF), was one of the schools chosen to send a group of boys, aged 13 to 14 to take part. I can be seen, right at the end of the film at 1minute 16 seconds. I'm the third boy on the right, after the man goes past, representing Chile. We got to keep the strip and the boots!
Such a pity that the opening match, England v Uruguay, was a damp squib of a match, ending in a 0-0 draw.

I was chosen, I wore the white strip at the end of the parade - Bulgaria - and I am pretty certain it is me carrying the team placard.

Funny thing is I was the only boy in my school (Bishop Douglass, Finchley) to be selected for this, and I was useless at sport and actively disliked football!
