Composers at work - Wilfred Sanderson is seen in his garden and playing the piano.
"Songs that echo round the world - yet few of us ever visualise the composers who set us singing. For instance, Mr. Wilfrid Sanderson."
L/S of Mr Sanderson and his wife having a little golf practice in the garden of their lovely home. C/U of Mr Sanderson looking at a book whilst sitting on a window seat in his home. A large dog sits beside him. He sits at a desk and composes: "His melodies in "Friend o'Mine", "Drake Goes West", "Until," "Up From Somerset", etc. have charmed us all." Covers of sheet music of Sanderson's compositions spin around in front of the camera at great speed. Extreme C/U of hand playing the piano. Mr Sanderson outside his country home waving some visitors off. He and his wife go inside the house.
Note: there are two items on this reel that share the same title. I would suggest that they are both the same story. Perhaps at some time the title has been spliced on to the front of the other section when really, that section should follow on from this section. The title has a still image of Everett Lynton and Jack Payne as part of the design so it is safe to say that they definitely featured in Words and Music By...(No 4), so the question is really whether the section on Wilfred Sanderson preceded the section featuring Lynton and Payne.
