  • Short Summary

Two teams of young women do battle on the football pitch.

  • Description

    Preston, Lancashire?

A team of young women come out of the dressing rooms on to the pitch, they wear stripy shirts and caps, one of them playfully kicks a ball. The terraces are packed, mainly with men. M/S of the opposing team, women in white shirts march onto the pitch - they seem more regimented than the first team.

Panning shot of the white shirted team, lined up on the pitch. They wear black berets and smile at the camera.

Good M/Ss of the game in progress - the girls race about the pitch, we see some pretty rough tackling.

Note: this story relates closely to another story - THE VICTORY SMILE - in G 667. A French girl's football team conclude's their tour beating England in their last game.

Note: as there is no intertitle the exact location is unknown - Preston, Lancashire is the location given in an old record. This is probably correct as the girls wear the same strip as the Dick Kerr Ladies' Football Team featured in SOCCER BY SEARCHLIGHT in G 730 , also from this year and also from Preston. AH 2000.

This clip features the "Dick, Kerr" ladies team (of Dick, Kerr & Co Ltd), against a representative French XI.

The location is, as the cataloguer suspects, Preston, (the Deepdale ground).

"women in white shirts march onto the pitch" - that's the French team, wearing berets.
