• Short Summary

Glamour girls have a pleasure boat trip on the Thames.

  • Description

Lovely footage of a bevy of beautiful girls having fun on the river - it is the Pathe cameraman's favourite subject - the Windmill Girls!

The girls are filmed leaving the Windmill Theatre stage door. They all wear baggy trousers and short sleeved blouses. They jump into a posh convertible car and we see them driving through London streets. Various shots of them climbing out of the car at the Embankment - they run down to a motor launch moored on the Thames then it's "Goodbye London - we're off the find the sun!" Shots of the girls on the boat with Battersea Power Station in the background.

Suddenly some of the girls are wearing swimsuits and we see them travel down the Thames with landmarks behind them including the Houses of Parliament. Shots of the girls sunbathing on sand. Other sun seekers are seen - turns out that this is not some glamorous beach location but the banks of the Thames. The girls run hand in hand along the "beach" with Tower Bridge in the background. End shot is of a few of the girls soaking up the sun on the roof of their motor launch.

My mother is one of the young women in this film. Would it be possible to buy a high-definition copy?
