New diary entry hopes they will be home by Sunday. Great deck shots as the Windjammer heads into rougher seas, Topside the men hang perilously above the sea as they change a damaged sail. They now wear their oils against the weather.
The sun disappears behind clouds. The sea floods across the decks and men. Wet and tired the men return below decks. The sea gets rougher and there are dramatic shots of the waves as they wash over the decks. Topside a sail is torn in half.
Below decks the hero takes the next watch of an injured man, despite his protestations. But he leaves without his knife, left on the table where he was carving his name. The others rush up after him. The men run along the deck and climb the rigging. Our hero is on the uppermost rigging. Despite efforts to reach him he falls to the deck below. He is taken below decks. We see the broken rope he was standing on.
He is laid out on the cabin table. The man who attempted to help him is distraught.
