A new airline safety device is tested; men drift down to earth in chairs with parachutes attached.
Titles read: "Will it come to this? Just as ocean liners carry lifeboats for use in extremity, will the air-liners of tomorrow carry this kind of automatic life saver?"
United States of America.
M/S of some men standing around a biplane; one of them shows us a new lifesaving contraption for use in emergencies on planes. It involves a chair swinging out of the back door of the plane; as the chair is released from a metal arm, it activates a parachute and the person sails down to earth.
We then see the invention being demonstrated - in mid-air! Several men come out of the back door of the plane in flight and drift down to the ground; two are seen coming out in slow motion. One man's chair gets stuck for a moment, but eventually he is released.
