Various shots people clambering to have glasses filled with wine from large barrels and stone fountain (wine comes out of gargoyle's mouth). Various C/Us of men, women and even a small girl drinking wine from raffia bottles and cups.

M/S of people lining up inside the booth to cast their votes. M/S of Georges Bidault, Prime Minister of France, casting his vote. C/U of Maurice Thorez, the Communist leader, slipping his ballot paper into the box. C/U of General Charles de Gaulle, in civvies, putting his paper into the ballot box and shaking hands with election workers. C/U of Leon Blum, ex-premier of France, wearing trilby hat, walking away after casting his vote. M/S of boxer Georges Carpentier casting his vote. C/U of a teller wearing an enormous straw hat. C/U of actor Maurice Chevalier, pondering and scratching his head before deciding how to vote.
