A group of men and women see a poster of the play 'Why Girls Leave Home'. (or A Danger Signal On The Path of Folly). They decide as a group to go and see this moral tale.
A man is dictating a letter to his secretary. Another woman comes in (possibly his daughter) and brings him some mail. The man opens one of the letters. CU letter about how good 'Why Girls Leave Home' is. He throws the letter in the waste paper bin. His secretary retrieves the note and reads it with interest.
Title reads: "The stenographer's young man - Edwin Clark." The secretary comes out of the house and shows the leaflet to her sweetheart. They agree to go to the play. The father discovers that the leaflet has gone from the bin. He questions his secretary. He then finds it and after re-reading it he dictates a letter.
Title reads: "The next morning. The Maid - Alice Washburn." The Maid, while cleaning, finds the leaflet and reads it with excitement.
Title reads: The daughter's young man. Edward Boulden." The daughter asks the maid to do something upstairs and so she leaves the leaflet where the daughter can see it. Everyone is reading the leaflet with interest and then throwing it back in the bin.
Title reads: "The gardener. William West." Maid and gardener agree to go to see the play.
Title reads: "The eventful evening". The various people start to leave the house.
Title reads: "The minister feels that he ought to see the play in order to tell his congregation how demoralizing it is." The minister / father goes. Various people turn up at the theatre.
A Jewish looking family arrive. The son is told "Ikey, You go in the gallery". Various people buy their tickets for the gallery. The father buys his ticket. Title reads: "The balcony." Shots of people in theatre reading programmes. Title reads: "The Gallery". People struggle for seats. Title reads: The Parquet". People are shown to their seats.
Part of the play is now show. A villain tries to force a young woman to go with him by foreclosing on her parent's mortgage. The girl's sweetheart saves the day by paying off the mortgage.
