• Short Summary

The astrologer Gabriel Dee tells Cancerians all about their fortunes.

  • Description

Full title reads: "When were you born? Gabriel Dee the well-known Astrologer and Psychologist discusses Birthday luck."

M/S of Gabriel Dee sitting at a desk with books and papers in front of her. She states that those viewers born between June 21st and July 22nd are under the sign of Cancer. She tells those whose star sign is Cancer that they are influenced by the moon and tides over shots of the same and of the wheel of the zodiac.

Various shots of crabs are used to illustrate Gabriel's contention that those born under the sign of Cancer are crab like in two respects. Firstly: "once you have hold of a thing you will stick tightly to it." and secondly: "you will keep close to your shell - close and secretive."

Gabriel asks a rhetorical question: "I wonder how many of you are in the right jobs?" Montage follows to illustrate the range of jobs appropriate to those born under the sign of Cancer. She suggests that the Navy or anything to do with ships would be good. Lighthouse keepers, "lonely but very responsible", fishermen, working with water in general - perhaps at a swimming pool, dairy farming and milkmen, cleaning of any kind, potteries, glass blowing, care of the young, motherhood, nursery gardening, zoo keeping, dog breeding... all these are suggested as suitable jobs. The montage shots are generally very short but there is a nice shot of a woman giving a baby a bath.

Health - digestive troubles, coughs and rheumatism are all problems for Cancerians. Gabriel suggests that the Cancerian should always eat very well cooked food and avoid stimulants.

Cancerian virtues - they are sympathetic, maternal, protective, patient and dogged.

Faults - worry, fear of what may never happen, too timid and so sentimental.

Marriage partners should have birthdays between February 20th and March 21st or October 20th and November 21st.

Lucky day is Monday. Lucky numbers are 9 and 18.

Gabriel tells Cancerians that they must expect many ups and downs and changes in life.

Film ends with a title card: "If you have any psychological problem to solve, just drop a note to Miss Dee c/o Pathe Pictorial, 103 Wardour Street, London W1 and she will be pleased to reply."
