Grosvenor Square, London.
General views of Grosvenor Square. Exterior shot of house Number 47; C/U of number above door. Inside we see several shots of Jane Wolfson, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Wolfson, walking about in her wedding gown and veil. A woman called Valerie adjusts the outfits of two little bridesmaids, Christine and Victoria, while another young woman, Patricia Footring, looks on. Pageboy David Esdale, in kilt, enters room to have a look at the bride and gives her a kiss. Charles Wolfson and his wife with another young man and woman look on. Jane sits down and her mother adjusts the dress and veil for her.
Car pulls up outside the house and Mrs Stern (groom's mother) gets out and goes inside. Several shots of wedding gifts. Shot of portrait of late Solomon Wolfson JP, grandfather of Jane. Several shots of Jane and others getting into car and driving off. Car arrives at St John's Wood Synagogue. High angle view of Jane and her father walking down aisle while wedding march is played. Guests look on. Bridesmaids and page in attendance. Wedding service takes place under canopy, then the couple sign the register with witnesses Max Kettner and Effie Propp.
Various shots of the reception at the Dorchester Hotel - panning shot of huge wedding cake. Jane and Jerome and their parents greet guests arriving - Alice and Arthur Levin, Mr and Mrs Clifford Morgan, Jack and Bebe Steinburg with daughter Catherine, "ballroom couple" Rosie and Sam, Alexander Stone, artist Pietro Annigonni, Mrs Lotte Burson and daughter Debbie, Chief Rabbi Dr Israel Brodie, Mortie and Annie Propp, Ruth and Leonard, Uncle Harry, Betty and Martin, Ralph Specterman, cartoonist David Langdon, Paul and Norma Jacobson, Claude and Olga Henry with Simon Gerstler.
Bride and groom make their way to table in banquet room and take their seats. More shots of guests - Mr and Mrs Ernie Sterling, Sam (?), Dr Morrisse Jay, Jeannie (Mrs Max Williams). Issac Wolfson makes speech at bride's table, then Charles Wolfson. Massive cake is wheeled over. Newlyweds cut one of the lower tiers of the cake. Shot of guest Max Thorpe. Jane and Jerome have their first dance, later joined by others on the floor. Another guest, Eddy Rain, may also be seen here. Most names spelled phonetically - apologies for any mistakes.
Note: this is an oddity - seems to be special made for the family. Was Wolfson connected to Pathe at this time? Or did he just pay for special newsreel coverage? Any details gratefully received. Reference on paperwork and old database records reads 'PX180'.
