    Various shots at a mass wedding ceremony where 42 couples are married. Commentator says that now, "in the interests of war economy, weddings take place 'en bloc'". A huge crowd watches the event. The brides are all dressed in traditional checked shifts and the men wear black suits.

    The brides and grooms walk separately towards a platform, each walking along a line of paper roses on the ground. A large portrait of Dr Sun Yat Sen, father of the Chinese Republic hangs above the platform. The couples stand together at a table on the platform and receive their marriage certificates.
