Peter Waterman defends his British Welterweight Title in a fight with Frank Johnson.
Boxing match for the Welterweight Championship of Great Britain between Peter Waterman and Frank Johnson in progress. GV. Two boxers in middle of ring. SV. Boxer's feet, pan up to boxers, Waterman going after Johnson. SCU. Tommy Farr and boxing promoter Lew Phillips, looking on. LV. Waterman attacking Johnson. He goes in and pushes Johnson back against the ropes. Waterman sends in a left followed by a right but Johnson stands toe to toe and mixes it with him. Waterman comes back in with a left. Johnson counters with a left, Waterman follows with a right cross. Waterman left jab. SV. Waterman lands a left to the head. SCU. The boxers, Waterman sends in a left but Johnson comes in after him getting in some valuable body work. CU. Man in crowd. LV. Two boxers mixing it. Waterman lands a good right to Johnson's jaw but Johnson skilfully covers up and starts to push him away as the bell goes and they walk to their corners. SV. Waterman being teated in his corner. CU. Man rings bell to start fourth round. SV. Boxers mixing it in the ring having a really good scrap near the ropes (prepare for knock out). SCU. Two exited men in audience. LV. Waterman on his knees. The referee pulls Johnson away and starts counting. He counts nine, Waterman rises and boxers meet again in the middle of the ring. SV. Johnson lands a vicious left, he comes in and follows it up with a nice right on Waterman's face but Waterman clings on to him. Johnson pushes him away. They both look very tired. CU. Man rings bell, this will be the end of round 10. LV. Referee goes over to Johnson's corner but the Seconds tell him that he can't carry on, his left eye is too damaged. Referee turns and walks over to Waterman and him and holds up his arm. CU. Lew Phillips. SCU. Two boxers after fight, Johnson with badly closed eye.
