Salvage men break up the battleship 'Warspite', run aground on the Cornish coast.

  • Description

    Prussia Cove, Cornwall.

Various shots of the old battleship 'Warspite', lying aground at Prussia Cove, 6 miles from Penzance. The ship was on her way to the Clyde to be broken up.

Salvage men walk down some rocks to a motorboat and head off towards the ship. Several shots from the boat of the 'Warspite'. Commentator mentions the ship was involved in the Battle of Jutland, the Mediterranean campaign and the D-Day landings in Normandy.

The men board the battleship and we see various shots of them breaking up the ship, using acetylene burners and sledgehammers. Waves dash against the sides of the ship. L/S of the battleship in the sea.
