The Duchess, wife of the 8th Duke Alan Ian Percy, speaks; standing on a platform w/ other local VIPs seated there. Pageant is held at ruins of Benedictine Abbey. Children enter in historical costumes: knights; monks; ladies & gentlemen etc. The Abbey makes a wonderful setting.

Shots such as a guy climbing up the jagged wall; a maiden climbing down a rope ladder to escape from stone tower; her lover waiting at the bottom. They try to sneak away but meet up w/ another man & a sword duel takes place. The girl is also killed. Procession of nuns; monks and assorted medieval characters; w/ an old man in long white beard & plain robe walking alone in the rear. Children skipping around in circle dance. Wide shot of abbey; ladder still hanging from window. Also shots of audience in seats and leaving after performance.

    Architecture; entertainment.
