    Group shot of rows of adolescent boys on deck of ship. Boys look to be ages 12-14; working class. They laugh; poke each other; etc. A priest and 2 laymen w/ the kids as supervisors. CU 3 boys w/ their heads sticking through life preserver ring from the Montrose; they look like typical English street urchins w/ big grins showing bad teeth. Longer shot of these 3 w/ others around them waving. More shots of boys waving from ship. Boys walking up covered ramp.

    CU Man looking into each boy's throat as they pass by in a line; carrying bags over their shoulders & letters in their hands. Shot of the boys on the Andania listening as a man reads a letter to them (these look on the younger end of the spectrum; c. age 12. Boys all waving their caps madly. CU man speaking as boys next to him listen. No information on what exactly is transpiring here. Perhaps these boys are orphans being sent to Canada to take apprenticeships learn a trade. Teenagers; social services; travel.

    "HMS Andania" in the title and text should read RMS Andania was at the time of this filming an ocean cruiser for the Cunard line, rather than a navy vessel, (though it became an armed cruiser at the start of WWII).

    Reducing this clip's date range, the Andania didn't make its maiden voyage until 1922 - a date range of 1922-29 is therefore applicable.
