• Short Summary

Vine, More and Nevard sing a song about gardening called 'Mr Middleton Says It's Right'.

  • Description

Titles read: "Pathetone now has pleasure in presenting - Those favourite entertainers of Stage, Screen and Radio - VINE, MORE AND NEVARD".

    London, probably Pathe Studio.

Various shots of Vine, More and Nevard in evening dress, singing 'Mr Middleton Says It's Right'. One of them plays the piano to accompany them. The comical song is about getting your gardening in order, so presumably Mr Middleton was a well-known gardening expert of the day.

Visuals cut out at 01:20:30, 9 seconds before the end of the soundtrack.

Duplicate exists in Turns Can 12 (also with end of song missing) - see separate record for details.

  1. Nicola Middleton says

Cecil Henry Middleton was a gardener, writer and one of the earliest radio and television broadcasters on gardening for the BBC. \'Mr Middleton\' broadcast in Britain during the 1930s and 40s, especially in relation to the \"Dig for Victory\" campaign during the Second World War. By 1940, 3.5 million listeners were tuning in to hear Middleton\'s 15 minute talks. Many of his wartime talks also appeared in print.
