• Short Summary

Travelogue promoting Vienna as a travel destination.

  • Description

Travelogue showing the delights of Vienna.

Nice short sequence showing airport control tower in operation. Very posh voices clearing an aircraft to take off. Shots of plane taking off then another nice sequence inside the aircraft where air hostess and pilot chat to passengers about the delights they will find in Vienna. They look at guidebooks and waltz sheet music.

Various shots of tourists enjoying the sights of Vienna from a horse drawn carriage (includes statues of Mozart and Strauss, shops, cathedral etc.). Trotting race at the Prater. Various shots of the horses, the race, the spectators.

L/S of Vienna's big wheel, family inside one of the carriages and views from the top. Views of the city and of stork nests on the tops of chimneys. Vienna's vineyards. Various shots of women collecting grapes. Couples sit at outside tables enjoying the wine of a small vineyard. Two men have brought their own salami and bread. The Danube - various views of the river and people having fun in the water. Sunbathing, swimming etc.

The Schonbrunr (sp?) Palace - L/S and details of the architecture. Russian war memorial. Open air concert in a park - lots of people sit and stand listening to the music. Statue of Franz Liszt. Nice footage of couples being served delicious slices of cake at an open air restaurant. The woman has enormously back combed hair. The "Harry Lime" theme is played on the soundtrack and we see a man playing the zither. It is Anton Karas. Nice shots of him playing with a couple sitting at the same table enjoying the music.

Ends with shots of Caravelle aircraft and tourists leaving. "Goodbye, you'll enjoy Vienna, I think."

Cuts exist - see separate record.
