    British soldiers marching in long rows; in the snow. DS soldiers pose as in a cheer; lifting their helmets; some raising them up on top of their rifles. They break up from that and put helmets back on; talk to each other. CUs soldiers standing around; talking to their friends; smoking pipes and cigarettes.

    Note: Ancre was the scene of several battles between 1916 and 1918, especially of successful Allied advance against Germans in November 1916, in which tanks were first used. SL.
