Director of the newsreels Sandro Pallavicini seated in the audience with attractive woman. Minister Enrico Mole and Mr Gonella are also in the audience - according to old record. Men operating projector. Long shot of a Venice building - cinema theatre where the festival is held. Woman looking through telescope. Close up shot of Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman chatting to Italian director Amato, small boats in background. Various shots of the personalities having fun at the beach, some seated at tables, chatting, some swimming, some sunbathing etc. Personalities are named in the old record as: Italian film producer Gordine, seen with director Max Ophuls, American Ambassador James Dunn with wife and family having a swim, director Jean Delannoy with Rene Clair and several stars of his latest film. Several shots of attractive girls on the beach. British film star Jean Simmons is seen looking after her baby nephew, in cradle next to her. Girl with telescope has finished star spotting, she lowers it down.

    The festival took place between 20 August - 10 September 1950.

    "Mr Gonella" is Guido Gonella.

    "Amato" is Giuseppe Amato.

    "Max Ophulus" should read Max Ophuls.

    "American Ambassador Dunn" is James Dunn, (I've just found him named in another Pathe piece about the festival).
